The funerary box, over 2.30 meters in length, held the enormous skeleton, raising many questions about the history and physical stature of ancient people. Discovery of a Byzantine Necropolis
During archaeological excavations in Crimea, experts unearthed a necropolis from the Byzantine Empire that included a very unusual tomb. The excavation, conducted simultaneously with the restoration work on the Mithridates Staircase in Kerch, revealed an area of up to 100 square meters containing burials of individuals who once visited the temple of Juan Bautista.
Notable Findings
To date, 27 burials have been uncovered, including those of children and twin burials. In addition, archaeologists found various artifacts such as bronze pendants and bracelets. They even discovered garments made of felt in one of the graves, which helped them date the findings.
